This acronym, HAZOP is used extensively to describe the HAZOP Study technique that is a very popular risk assessment technique in industries such as Oil and Gas, Chemical, Power, Mining and others, where there may be several hazards that need to be identified and risks mitigated. Of course, HAZOP is not the only Risk Assessment technique around, there are others such as Hazard Matrix, HAZAN and HAZID too. However over the years HAZOP has proved to be much more popular than any of the other techniques.
